Native Range installation view
This installation includes both native plants from the Americas, in the planters, and invasive shrubs (specifically burning bush or winged euonymus, Euonymus alatus, from Asia) hanging in the center of the exhibit. The planters contain the “Three Sisters” (maize, beans and squash), a companion planting system that originated in Mesoamerica, and other native companion plantings.

What does it mean to belong in a place? A fundamental question at the heart of this installation is, “What is native?”
